... after dark than a good glass of wine in pleasant surroundings?
Thanks for looking! C&C welcome!

Marc.

Marc....I like this..It is kind of abstract. It is also very 'smart' as you did not have to stay up until
all hours of the night and deal with the elements

Patty,

Well, I had been out for some time, trying to get
night shots from empty parking lots, which I thought
was a good idea. It was so windy that the tripod
was nearly useless. Maybe I'll post one of them
to the photo critique board. Also, I deliberately
went to two restaurants with the sole idea of
getting a good shot in my mind. The first one
was a wash-out (visually speaking), but the
second gave me this opportunity.

Alright: I did enjoy the wine (and a pizza rucola,
don't know the English word though)

Thanks for your comment!

Marc, I find this photo rather hard to decipher. I really don't know what I am looking at other than the wine glass of course. I feel like the blown out portion of the photo distracts from the glass which I believe is what you are "focusing" on.

Jane,

The blown-out area is the light source (aka lamp). Interesting
that this is not apparent. Hm. I wanted to show "balance" as a
recurring motif: dark vs light, color (the front cushion) vs mono-
chromatic (back cushion and leather seat), soft (cushions again)
vs hard (the glass). The diagonals also play a role.

If I look at this, my eyes wander around counter-clockwise, but
never leave the picture.

I also like the tonal range.

Most important the indirectness: I didn't want to show darkness
in itself, so I'm using the warm cast, the wine, and the cushions
as metaphors.

Well, now you know what "the artist" thought. Pity that it
didn't work on the receiving side

Thanks for commenting; it's very much appreciated,
Marc.

Marc, Nice entry. I like it, very inviting. I don't drink very often but I can really feel the "time time to sit down and relax" and take a sip.

Christian,

Thanks! I don't drink very often either. Honest! I was really relaxing
there after I had been chasing around for an "after dark" shot.

Best,
Marc.
