Thank all those who commented on my first entry. I found myself in oil country and came across this drilling rig this evening. I like this shot better than 'Railroad Xing'. Once drilling begins it does not end until complete. The workers on this rig will work through the Thanksgiving Holiday.

Tom, this is wonderful. The one thing I would suggest is that you straighten it. I straigtened it using the left hand side of the rig, and even though there are several skewed elements, I think it would be better. Just a suggestion. The shot is wonderful. What a find!!! Where was it
It looks like it would be a drilling platform out in the Gulf. What a gorgeous sunset/sunrise. Your work takes you neat places, huh?

Thanks Jane, I agree, it does look better straightened. It was taken in Central Kansas. The oil industry sort of died out around 1984. In the last 2 years it has begun to grow again. It has really taken off in the last year. my father-in-law said the drillers are hounding him like they did in the 70's and 80's. I drive around 1000 miles per week around Kansas, from metropolitan areas like Kansas City to counties with 300 residents.

Tom, Abstracter, Keith and Patty, thanks for your comments. I put a couple of other shots of the fields in my gallery. Once again I won with this assignment as I have never concentrated on shooting a silhouette prior to this WA, I learn something every week. There were so many great entries in #229, I wouldn't want to have to pick the finalists.
