Thanks for the response Philly and Carrey......I'm glad someone is listening :-)) but still would like to hear who and what determines the finals......and why the deadline gets moved?? Who knows, we might have thought up something different if we had known we had a little more time.........so maybe the right person will give us the answer........
A panel chooses the finalists, as far as I know. Then we all get to vote on them.
Fred sometimes extends the deadline. You just have to keep checking back to see if he has put up the finalists post. Right now, there isn't even a vote for the next topic on this forum so I suspect that the deadline might be extended again.

I think what Tom meant is.....no thread has been posted yet, for voting on the next assignment, not that there won't be one. And we'll all get to vote on this assignment once Fred puts up the Finalist List thread....he just hasn't done it yet.
Maybe Fred has family things going on, since it's a holiday...or maybe he's out of town.
Guess we'll all just have to wait and see what happens next.

What Tom means is that there is normally a poll set up to decide the next assignment topic. It can be hard to follow the process because the poll topic becomes the announcement topic for the WA theme and the poll vanishes.

Still confused here........I was hoping to hear from Fred on this...since I don't have a satisfactory answer..........You would think I was hoping to win or something, but no way!! just wanting to know how things are run...it is my first time posting and I'm trying to figure if I made a wrong decision..I have found the members to be very nice and welcoming, but the rules a little vague and hard to follow......I have written to Fred and still waiting for an answer....
PS, Meanwhile, maybe it will snow ...and we will have lots more "white on white" pictures....:-))
I'm new too. Have been wondering when to find out the current "assignment" and it seems I always find out they're voting on it. Is there a set of FAQ for this? If so, where can we find it?
Maybe we will hear today from someone who can help us with some of these questions.........I understand what you're saying.....I have never figured out the current assignment thing either.......and as you say, it is already being voted on before you are told to vote......
Let's hope so. I'm like you, Judi and Martha...I've enjoyed the people here, but not being able to understand the assignments, and their rules, is taking some of the fun out of it.
I haven't seen an FAQ, so if you find one, let me know that, too.
The answer everyone is seeking is in the FAQ. The moderators for this forum is Fred Miranda and Jon Canfield. I believe they determine the finalist in all assignments. The changing of deadlines are in their discretion which may be due to prior projects that they may have. I hope this clears up everyones questions. Enjoy all of the great images that are being created, and I know, as I have found, that we will all learn something from seeing each others work.
