Endre,
Wonderful shot of your daughter!
It made me smile as I thought back of our two daughters going through the same thing quite a few years ago.
Very sharp and clean looking and to the point of the assignment.
Good luck,
Tom

Perfect! I'm so glad you angled to get her eye clear of the eyeglass earpiece. If she was aware of you, Katalin has learned to be a completely unselfconscious model - no doubt having had lots of practice with dad around!
Very attractive soft modeling in the light quality.

I appreciate your kind comments, Tom! I guess we all go through the same expression at some point (actually, several points) in our lives.
All the best,
Endre

Thanks so much, Jess! I always appreciate your kind comments. Since we homeschool our four kids, setting up for the shot was really easy. I just had her do her work and with my telephoto lens and the camera on a tripod, I clicked off a shot every time she looked mystified by one of her math problems. I got several cute ones but for the topic, this one was the best.
All the best,
Endre

Great job Endre - I was certain this was yours from the thumbnails! Seems like we are getting to know your family the more you share your photography. Beautifully captured moment and spot on for the assignment.

Thanks so much, Ed. My kids are all real characters so they make easy (and cheap ) models. It becomes easier and easier to recognize various people's particular style after many postings.
All the best,
Endre

Isn't it about time for summer vacation? Seriously, nice pose. You've really captured the essence with this shot. Good luck!

Thanks, Lensblur. I'm so glad you like it.! We all suffered (and continue to suffer) through such moments. I still have to stop and think how much 6 x 8 is.
All the best,
Endre

Thanks, Richard. It's very kind of you to comment. We homeschool our for kids so summer vacation really doesn't happen. Considering how little they actually work throughout the year, summer vacation is not really a viable option. That's only one of the multitude of reasons we do homeschool - it's much more like real life. Unless you are a teacher, do YOU get summer vacation off from work?
All the best,
Endre

Thanks for the comment, Caley. She's a great kid who generally doesn't agonize much about her work. But she knew she had to use her noggin for the photo and I managed to catch her when she was actually stumped for a while.
All the best,
Endre

This is such a good take on the theme - and such good lighting. You really do excel at these kind of people shots, Endre.

& btw, with her parents pedigree, (isn't music close to maths and science in the brain's structure!?) I bet Katalin is doing a great job of the 'modeling/acting'...

Endre,

I can relate to this. This is about the same pose that I strike - with a slightly more wrinkled brow - as I ponder a Sudoku puzzle.

Wonderful entry! This is classic Strad!

This is so not fair!!!!!!! You have way too many models with way too many good ideas. How the heck do you expect us to compete Seriously, such a beautiful girl, a beautiful photo, and I don't believe for a minute she has a moments problem with any "learning"

Thanks so much, Suse. All I did to light it was use the natural ambient light of the room and bounced the flash of my 580 off the ceiling. Since I had my telephoto mounted on a tripod at the other end of the room it was easy to be unobtrusive and capture her expressions.

I find that musicians either love math or really hate it. I fall into the latter category. Fortunately, Katalin takes after her Mom so i don't have to worry that she'll be stumped by her times tables for very long.

All the best,

Endre
