Check the price on ebay - take the one available, try it, sell it if you are not happy with it for the price it goes normaly. if you want to remember your threads title my suggestion would be this one
here a crop of the 50 on the 5D at f8, I cant compare it to other shift lenses myself
I can see that the Mirex shifts, but cannot see the tilt function shown. Can some German-language member confirm that it tilts AND by how many degrees? I have the 50 CF and I could be interested in this solution, too (on the 5D). Most of my work is products. cheers, KL
I've already negotiated an ebay-derived price (good point Andi!) for the older 50mm so if I want to sell it I should be able to do so for minimal loss. Having a local source takes a lot of the risk out of the transaction at any rate.
So the 38mm biogon is kind of buy the lens get a permanently attached camera for free? Almost a point and shoot Hasselblad.
The email I recieved confirmed the tilt but they also have both a tilting and non-tilting version (at least for the mamiya).
I believe you can see the tilt scale on the Hassleblad version (left hand side) below the "Mirex" name plate. My guess would be that the arrow, "5" and "10" refer to the amount of tilt so it must tilt away from the viewer into the screen, otherwise it would obscure the scale. The shift scale is more visible on the right hand version but it looks like there is a similar pointer on the Hasselblad side it's just that the graduations are harder to make out.
In any event I'm calling them tomorrow morning. I assume someone will speak enough english to figure things out. Otherwise it's spanish and I'm more likely to end up with food than camera equipment.
If I had a real babelfish we might have got somewhere. By international decree I'm forbidden to speak French so the third language I can't speak properly was off limits. The accidental Espanol (seems to be an automatic reaction to switch to Spanish) didn't help either.
I emailed them again but if they need to find an outside translator it may take some time. I wonder if any of the German speakers could email them and enquire as to a better route to communicate for us non-speakers. The time difference to here makes it difficult to find someone to call for me during business hours.
What do you need to know? Put up your mail and sent it to me via my homepage. I will translate it for you, if possible keep it short and clear. Office hours are over now in germany, we have 5 pm now in a short while in central europe
Maybe Carsten could do it also, he is bi-lingual
I sent you an email with 5 basic questions that were not answered either by the website or the email I recieved from them. If you can do it and indicate that it duplicates an email, in english, that I sent directly I would be eternally grateful.
1) How to order from Canada. Do they take VISA or Paypal and how would I give them this information.

Which shipping method with DHL --> Air or express and what level of air service? Mirex previously said that the charge was 55 Euros but did not specify which service that paid for.

Forget the 55€, Shippment is 48€ by airmail insured for 500€
Are the adapters assembled and ready to ship or is there a lead-time between an order and when they ship?

Do the Hasselblad versions allow full infinity focus with the Canon EOS adapter and a 50mm Hasselblad lens? I think Gus would want to know the same about the Leica adapter.
***
Die Scharfstellung der Objektive bis unendlich ist mit beiden KBSLRs möglich.

Infinity with both Leica and Canon Kameras
I also wanted to know a few details about the tilt and shift mechanism. If you could ask if it's like the Canon TS-E in that the Tilt axis is always 90 degrees to the shift access and the whole works (tilt and shift) rotate together 360 degrees.
So with shift set to Left-Right the tilt would be down only. With the adapter rotated so that shift is rise-fall then the tilt would be a swing to the right.
***
***
The tilt axis is fixed to the shiftfunction, both functions can be rotated together. A lens shifted to the left would tilt down, the same way as a lens shifted to the right would tilt down. Do you want to tilt up you rotate the adapter a 180 degrees.
For those that are interested in the adapter--medium format route to the best shift/tilt lens period...
I have ordered the Mirex adapter today and will mate it with a Hasselblad 50mm F4 Distagon T*.
I will be happy to post a mini-review once I have it in hand. At the very least I can post some more detailed pictures and some samples. I'm pretty much a rookie at this tilt-shift thing but also have two other solutions on order that I can compare to. Depending on the timing of various transactions I may also be able to test the combination including a 100mm f3.5 T* which I understand is one of the sharpest lenses of this vintage.
It could be a couple weeks though as it's a long way from Germany to Canada and I'll be out of town the week after next.
The payment method is wire transfer only for us North Americans at least and it looks as though the prices quoted on the internet list the adapter price including the fit-up for the particular camera body and the seperate prices are for purchasing the T2 adapter alone. Either that or I was given a pretty good discount on the prices quoted here: http://www.mirex-adapter.de/preisliste.htm. Shipping is 48 Euros to British Columbia, Canada. Probably cheaper to the USA.
Thanks again Andi for the translations -- I think English alone was slowing things down.
