I was wondering when someone would grace us with sand ripples - such an obvious natural pattern and never fails to inspire wonder at nature's artistry.

I can feel the heat, grit, and shifting sands under my feet!

When I see patterns like this, either in sand, or in clouds as fly above them, I always think of those people who say that everything is tending towards chaos and less order.

Great pic!

Thanks for all the comments. The desert is an interesting place to find simple patterns created by the forces of nature.

This is a great shot. I really like the subtle colour/contrast. I'm a little unclear as to whether it was taken within the WA 207 window, though.

Lovely shot. The warm orange color makes the felling of heat more intense. Did you add color in PS, with a filter or is the sand really this orange?

I wanted to shoot something like this with the crashing waves of the ocean and sea oats in the background, but we has just enough rain to flatten the ripples and harden the top layer of sand.
