Never in a million years did I think I was going for this shot. On the way home today the sky played wicked. I could not resist it. About 10 second after this shot I was almost knocked over by a windgust and at that point I knew it was about time to head for the car. C&C always welcome.

As I was driving home, I was asking myself the same thing. Rarely do we have tornados here but this sure looked suspect.
Glad you got home OK!
Thanks for checking in and commenting.

I'm glad you and your camera got home okay! BTW great Gas Prices. We're at $2.95 a gallon for regular unleaded.
It did start pouring as soon as I got in the car, so I would say I was lucky. About the gas prices, it is low here overall. As soon as we get on the westerna shore, Annapolis, DC and Baltimore area, we see closer to the same as yours.
WOW Christian. Man what an experience and to have your camera to capture it. Whew--one for the memory book. I say life is "making memories"--and you made it but captured it as well. Nice job.
But here is an admonition--it is ok to spend all manner of monies on the WAs--but not your life We don't want you going to the happy hunting ground too soon.

Jane,
It really did not look that bad from the ground. Originally I was chasing sunrays as the sun was getting through the clouds, then the clouds took over. It is a little decieving through he viewfinder. Over to the left is where I really thought it looked worse but too much junk in the way, could not get the composition to work. I appreciate your concern and I promise to be more careful. Are you afraid of dying? Me? Not really, just not finished down here yet. But I am not the one making the decision.

Wow Christian - looks like June in Kansas to me! Great job - your capture of that greenish/blue hue in the clouds in contrast to the illuminated sign was so well done. I always love images of clouds and storms.
Thanks Ed.
I like clouds and storms too, but rather stay clear of he storms. I do not envy anyone living in tornado alley just for that reason.
Christian
Cheers!....it's gonna rain cats and dogs.
Great storm shot with the 'human' cheery foreground.....very complete color pallette
Nice job on the WA

Woah, Christian! Great shot! Those clouds are amazing! Tha sickly green is really fantastic! And only $2.69 a gallon!!! We haven't seen anything under $3.25 for Regular out here in months. In some places, Premium has been over $4.
All the best,
Endre
Thanks for your comments as always Endre,
Well, still glad to be here in chicken country. We are close to everything but really close to nothing. Gas is about as cheap as you will get it anywhere in the US which is good thing. You can keep the $ 3.25 out there.
I'm sure you get a great shot in before it is all over.

This reminds me of years ago when I spotted the ruins of an abandoned stone house in the middle of nowhere in Arizona, except that I was shooting b&w film. When lightning began to appear, it was fortunate that my wife reminded me of our position in the middle of a barren area, and the distance to our car! We made it, but it was a bit scary.
Sorry about the digression, but I want to remind you that your own legs have to get you out of the path of danger, so don't push it too far!
Oh yeah, it really is a lovely shot, and I'm glad you didn't chicken out earlier!
Jess, I appreciate your concern very much. I was 20 ft from the car and no thunder or lightning had appeared. I just did not feel it was that bad. As soon as the wind caught me, I know it was time. An inexperienced storm chaser speaking that is.
And yes, almost forgot, thanks for the feedback.
