I don't think I am, at least not for a while. All of the new stuff added is nice but I'm not sure if it's enough to dump my 20 and spend a likely $400 to $500 differense to pick up a 30D.
The 5D is certainly looking more and more interesting and one has to wonder if they have another body up their sleve to slot in as a "high-end" crop camera. Maybe in the fall?
This also puts a bit of a damper for me on the 17-55IS. Not being sure if I want to jump ship to FF makes it REALLY hard to swallow the price of what does look to be a very interesting lens.

I just had this discussion with a fellow fotog only moments ago. For any looking for a second 20D like body, the 30 makes perfect sense (or even for someone looking for a 20D like body now). However, as a current happy 20D owner for the last year and a half, my next step is likely a 1 series, so I certainly won't be jumping up to the 30D. If anything, the 30 is a testament to just how great the 20D body is.

If I still have my 20D I will NOT upgrade to 30D. But then I have no body that can use EF-S so I think it's time for me to upgrade my 10D. No, I'm not looking forward to EFS 17-55, I want my EFS10-22 back.

well.. when i got my 20D (the first one that arrived), i returned my 300D and got the full-price back (after 8 months, aproved by Canon rep. ), so i only had to pay something like 300 euro more (can't remember) to get the 20D.
If i could do the same thing with this one i would probably do it, cause spotmeter sounds very good 2 me. But that will not be possible. So i'll probably buy a new lens instead. If i'm upgrading i'll buy a 1D and keep my 20d at it's side (with a 17-55 maybe? ).

Not me this round. But the next round could be interesting if Canon is satisfied with its camera price points now. Wonder which model is first in line for an upgrade now? Methinks the 5D.

The next camera due for replacement/upgrade is the 1Ds Mk II. If not the 350D/Rebel XT I guess. There has been alot of rumours of a new EOS 3000D.
It would be intresting to see what would replace the 1Ds 2, But I rekon it will only be a slight upgrade like the 1D Mk IIn.

If it had better AF (i.e. more points) I would be seriously considering it. I've always thought it was the little things (ISO in viewfinder, Spot Meter) that make/break a camera.

im still trying to think of another body to backup my 5D. right now for me it is the EOS 3 lol ( i just cant make myself get rid of it ) I may just get a second 5D
the 30D wouldve piqued my interest if it was in the 10+ mpx like we all thought it was gonna be.
but NOOOO. i was all excited for today and i feel so let down.
