I arrived past sunset and lit it with my headlights. 30 second exposure, the white thing in the lower right is actually a bird that wouldn't sit still for 30 seconds.
The Salton Sea has an amazing history both natural and man made. Now it mostly smells of brine and fish kill.
Hi all. Thanks for the great comments. The headlight idea was last minute. I really tried to make it a bit earlier. Though I too liked the mix of colors, contrasts etc.
Jeff,
I set the temp at "as shot" in CS2 with auto WB on my 1dsmk2. The temp turns out to be 4500 and a -3 in tint, at least in this shot. On the exposure, the barnacles around the base of the structures are a dirty off white. So this temp/tint might be a tad on the yellow side. However, if I cool it down to say 4150, then the sky goes way too blue. I suppose I could goof around a bit with color balance in wide gamut, though I kind of like it with the incandescent feel against the blue sky.
