p.1 #1 · D2X Noise w/Manual Lenses

Has anyone else noticed a lot of extra noise during shutter release using a D2X and any AIS-type manual focus lens? I've tried a few manual lenses on mine and it almost sounds - and feels - like the mirror is hitting something during exposre, but I've checked both the back end of the lenses and the mirror itself and can't find any contact points.

I can also feel a great more vibration during exposure using an manual lens. I have used the menu setting to tell the camera which lens is mounted, but this has no effect on this strange behavior.

What do my fellow FM'ers know of this oddity?

Can't say I've encountered this but I only use a couple of MF lenses on my D2X. Seeing as most of the older ones are metal perhaps the vibration feels more pronounced...

I shoot manual lenses all of the time and in many cases, they are better than the AF versions IMHO.

I've not experienced any adverse issues at all with AI or AIS lenses.

Robert

check the aperture tab near the mount of the lens in question and see if it is operating freely, I use a 55micro, 105 f2.5 all the time without incident

Do you have auto ISO enabled? If the lens is set to minimal aperture (closed down), then the camera could be compensating by boosting ISO.
