p.1 #1 · Don't need no stinkin' D200

Not that I won't take a serious look at one when they finally arrive. And instead of hanging around photo forums worrying about this spec and this spec I be missing this kind of stuff:

If you don't want one then don't take a look at one...I bet if you do you'll buy one!

That's what I'm talking about Duane! Use the tools to capture your world, don't wait for the next big thing. There will always be another tool, but the light may never be the same.

I'm kind of in the same boat. I already get good 10MP files from my D1x. But no question a D200 has some newer features that would be nice. But then the PQ is unknown at this point. Hmmm, clearly I need to sleep on it some more.

Nice shot, btw.

Good stuff Duane! This is superb in a vertical like this, and what beautiful colors. I still think the D100 delivers one of the best raw files ever.

The weather has just been awesome the last couple days and the leaves have finally turned. My problem is I have 3 hobbies now and it's very hard picking which one when the weather is this great. However, I've been spending most of my time with a graphite rod slapping the water with a 5 weight line look for trout! As of yet, I haven't found a safe way to haul around my D100 in my vest. Plus the golf pro showed up at my house a couple weeks ago wondering why I haven't been playing golf!

Thanks John, here's another one for you! On the way to fishing this morning. About a mile from the house.

A while back I thought I wanted a D1X but I kept thinking about all those batteries I'd have to carry. Since I'm just playing at this I'm thinking of settling with the D200 and 18-200 lens. I've been happy with my 24-120 but find it's not wide enough nor long enough. I have the 12-24 and 80-400 but heck who wants all that sometimes when I just want a shot of the family.

Thanks Jack. BTW, did you finally solve your file problem?

Kinda sorta The one file I couldn't recover was actually corrupt on the CF card. However, I did manage to extract the jpeg from the nef. It was a 'grab' shot of my son, and the only one I had, so I'm glad to at least have the jpeg.

I rather go out enjoy my D70 and 70-200 VR instead of gaze at the pic of D200 and wait til mine arrives.

The sad truth is that I am so busy that my 70-200 VR had been sitting there for almost 3 weeks now and I havn't even got it out of the camera bag. If anything I rather have more time than D200. (With that said I am still interested in one though)

I really like that first image and the offset makes it even more compelling.
I am vaguely familiar with that photoshop technique, however did you possibly use a script or was each of your posted manually edited for that effect. (they all have the same ratio as it blends into a different axis)

Did you get lost Scott? That boat says Cruise Chicago! Any yes hopefully the bath tub won't be that big when I decide to jump from the D100 to D200 and look for a willing sucker to buy my hand me downs!!

Thanks for the comment and yes it is a Photoshop action and I think it's one that comes with the software. Cuz I'm an idiot about some of that stuff.

I know you're kidding, but seriously, there's 24 hours in a day. Just because people are hanging out on a forum talking about a camera, doesn't mean they're not taking pictures as well.

Nice images!

Well, I love my D1X, but I am going to break down and get a D200. It is just a matter of throwing desire, need, economy, and my wife...sticking my hand in and pulling out what I can get.....and I think I can get a D200 without earning a divorce.

Is anybody here questioning the abilities of the D100? I have owned the camera for about 2 years, I know it well and I am very happy with my results.
Yes, I will be taking a look at the D200, if I get satisfied with the reports that will begin to show after December, but my name is not going to be in any waiting list.
I agree with Duane; I do not want to miss those beautiful shots....
