Thanks Ken. This is a shot by Grenadier Pond in High Park - the quintessential 'nature enclave' in Toronto, almost as popular as the Toronto Islands. It is big, it is green, and it has a bit of wildlife going on smack in the middle of the city's west: coyotes, foxes, raccoons, opossums, great blue herrons, pike, bass (I actually eat the bass I catch there).
The photograph, I hope, is able to portray not only a highly favorite spot in the city, but reflect upon Torontonians too... Writer and actor Peter Ustinov described Toronto as "...New York run by the Swiss..." Torontonians are, however, Canadians after all: the middle and upper class chic, urban professionals of the city love going up North to 'the cottage' and be close to nature. I am more of a rough-it-up type camper myself (and an Algonquin National Park fan), but in the end, it is all about trying to bridge our urban existence and our love for nature. So this is indeed, my town. Cheers.
