p.1 #1 · Quick Request

Howdy folks,
I just revamped my website and apparently one or two people are having problems accessing it. I'm wondering if any number of you could please log on here:

http://www.glenndavy.com

and check to see if you can get through the first 3 or 4 pages in the Thematic Gallery? If you have problems with any of the links or seeing the images, could you please drop a note here and let me know what you get instead?

Many thanks for your trouble .

Glenn

Hey Glenn,

Had no trouble. Images load a wee slower but I didn't check the size, they may be just a tad larger than your regular net fair.

No trouble with the site at all. Nice work.

Site works fine on a Mac with Safari as the browser. Lovely photos, shame your cameras not 'full frame'

Im using a Mac with Safari, and had no problems.

However, It was too slow, your front page image is far to large.. its 240k. In photoshop, use the Save to Web feature, and it strips out all the thumbnails, exif, windows stuff etc etc from the JPG, and even at the same compression level can save about 50k, then just use JPEG 60.. more than good enough for online.

Daniel.

Glenn - Really nice site.Wonderful photos. Site worked fine. My only suggestion would be to move the direction buttons (previous, next) higher on the screen. I had to scroll to find them. Steve

Glenn works great for me on WIxxp IE6. I agree with the back next button movement Idea. Great images though.

picture took forever to load - but I am totally blaming it on the slow network here at work! You'd think with a T1 connection things would work faster - but they have closed so many ports on our network to the outside world, that the internet is sometimes no faster than dial up.

OK, thank you for this everyone. I'm going to be learning either Front Page (I'm aware of it's limitations but for what I do, I think it will be enough) and will redo it eventually using a WYSIWYG process. This was all hand-coded in HTML, and I had a devil of a time trying to get things where I wanted them.

I have noted the comments about the images being slow (when I switch to FireFox, it loads slow for me too) and appreciate the suggestion using "Save for Web" (I stopped using it, but didn't realize what all it would do in stripping excess info - thanks!). Once I do it in a program, then I'll be able to resize and line up much better.

My main concern on this go-round was that it actually would load because a good friend in the UK said it wouldn't load for her (at least, not the thematic gallery). I don't know why it's not loading for her since everyone else I've talked to seems to have little problem (unless her issue is one of a time out one). So, I have a template now, but will modify it in the coming weeks.

Thank you again very much, and especially for the very kind remarks (this thread probably looked like I was "fishing" but I really wasn't ). That is very much appreciated indeed.

Glenn
