N90s. Then F100. Then I went through some hard times and got rid of it all. Went digital with the Oly E-10, then Canon 10D, 20D, and now I'm back with the D2x and D70 combo.
I had an 8008s that I bought new, but was afraid to use because I had blown my budget. Sold it after not using it and eventually got an FM2 that had an FM2n screen in it, so the meter was off by about a stop. Fortunately, the 135mm f2.8 I had had sticky blades, so If I shot at f4 the lens problem would cancel out the camera problem. I put the exposure problems down to operator error and shot away for months with the problem. Beginners, eh?
My father bought me a used FM with 50/1.8 for Christmas 1990. Since then, I've pursued a career in photography and graduated to the 8008s, F4s and finally an F5.
I got the N-70, N90s, then F-100, then D100, then D70 and then the D2x. Still have the F-100, D70 and D2x. Love the F-100 but haven't shot film in over a year. I also have the Mamiya RB67 Pro S and love large negatives for black and white.
Nikon F, Photomic meter, 55mm Micro Nikkor lens. Circa 1970. This combo shooting Kodachrome 25 (rated at 50) produced amazing color saturation and sharpness. Still have the beast, but rarely use it.
A pair of FM's were my first Nikons. Followed by F3, FE2, 8008, N90s, F100. Now it's the digital crap that I mostly use. I sold the 8008 & N90s years ago but still have & love the other stuff. The first FM still works!
I saved every penny I had to buy a used black Nikon FTn in 1972, and then I put a $50 soligor lens on it. Next came an FM, FE, then a D-100. Now I have more money in lenses than I could ever imagine when I was 14.
First Nikon purchased just out of high School, the EM, followed by the 8008 that was stolen and replaced with the N90. I sold the N90 and bought an F100 that I never use but can’t bring myself to sell, I still love that camera.
My first digital was the D100 which I sold to buy a D2H. I recently bought a D2X but plan on keeping the D2H unless I trade it in for a D2Hs.
Recently I bought a Nikon 5400 for my daughter.
Somewhere in a drawer we have a Nikon 35mm point-and-shoot Zoom 800 I bought for my wife and an APS Pronea I gave one of my kids.
The only Nikon I've ever owned is a Nikonos IV (which I still have). I bought it for extreme condition photography, which I don't do anymore. It hasn't worked in years and I haven't bothered to get it fixed...
I shot for several years with an FM-2 owned by the foundation I was volunteering for. That was a nice camera and virtually indestructible.
A black FM in 1978, followed by an updated chrome one in 1982. Later I added an FM2n, F4s, F100 and a few months ago I plunged into the all digital world with the fantastic D2x.
First Nikon I ever owned. A good old reliable F. I had a buddy drop one 5 feet on to a hard stand and it not only still worked but I think it improved his shots. try dropping a new one. Work horse of the photo world.
