First Nikon was the F80. Shortly after found a little EM at a pawn shop that cried out, "take me home"... so I did. Next was a D70 and a CP2200 for the pocket. A few days ago picked up an FG because it's small like the EM but has manual ability. Luv 'em all.
FG... 1990. After that, I wanted more. Got a N2020, then an F3, then an F4s. The F4s has got to be my favorite film camera, hands down. I've played with an F5, still thought my F4 was laid out better.
the FG was a great little nikon, that along with a series E 50mm, was the perfect street camera. (on a budget)
Just for fun, starting in 1965: Nikomat (yes, that's spelled correctly), FTn, Canon A1 (my second favorite), Elan, N2020, N90s, F100 (my favorite - still in the bag), FG for backup, Fuji S602 (stays in the truck just in case), D70, D2H
Regards,
Ron
A point & shoot that succumbed to salt water on a holiday on a Greek Island. Then a used FM - my first real camera - that was stolen about a year later. At which point I discovered to my pleased surprise that I had a new-for-old insurance policy and an FM2n.
The FM2n was my main camera for years and is the only one of my film cameras I will never consider selling no matter how many gigapixels my D9X ends up having.

Not sure if this is a repost, but it's good to getaway from the D200 etc....
I started off with a Nikkormat EL, was the best camera, ahh the memories.
Then the F2, with the MD-4 damn that was heavy, F3, F4s, F100 and now D100 (d100 will my backup body to the D2X or D200)!!

As far as I recall, the F2 never worked with the MD-4 (which was designed for the F3). The F2 only worked with the MD-2 (larger and faster motor) and the MD-3 (smaller and slower version).
My first was a chrome FE2 sometime in the 1980s.
It fell off the back of my motorbike, but carried on working for 10 years afterwards, finally died when it fell in a river...
I replaced it with an FM2, but also used an F90x for years, tried an FM3a for a while, bought a used F100, which I sold after a few months, to finance an F6, and now its a D2X.
But best of all, I still use all the same lenses, even my ancient 35-105 is wonderfully sharp on the D2X just 1 stop from wide open (grim colour fringing on high contrast edges in the corners though...)

When I graduated from HIgh School I bought a used Nikon FTN with a new 50mm 1.4 lens.
Went on caving trips, diving, canoing, everywhere for many years.
Never found a match until the Nikon F5.

Woops you're correct, MD-2
I just bought a F4s as my dad is a beloved film fan and couldn't go past it.. was a bargain, and also a 35-70mm F2.8 which was attached to it... lens is good so far
The only Nikon I've ever owned was an S2 and 50mm f/1.4, and I gave it up when I realized that the Contax stuff was more plentiful, and unless I wanted to spend the $dough to up to the Nikon SP (still an option, I'm still lusting after one) I'd be better off with FSU lenses on a Contax camera. Too bad Nikon couldn't copy the lens mount correctly.
