p.1 #1 · paint for my EOS 3?

Hello all,

I wonder if any of you fine fellows have any suggestion for me. I just bought a really nice, clean EOS 3 here (its actually still with the seller), except for part of the letter 'n' in 'canon' is scratched. I know it will do nothing to my pictures, but is there anyway I can maybe 'paint' white paint to it. Maybe you have this problem before and know special paint that I can use? Or none of you would care enough to make this a problem. Oh..I guess I like cosmetics

Thanks for reading, suggestions would be appriciate

peace/ ansye

aha, I know where you got it, since I got the RRS plate, you will regret you didn't get the plate just kidding...

No, for me, I wouldn't mind that little imperfection. In fact, I may paint whole Canon and EOS 3 part black, so the guy standing next to me would have hard time to figure out what kind of camera I am using

Just match the paint, mask it and touch up with a tiny brush. Whatever you do, don't spray or microscopic particles will find there way into every forbidden place...

Donīt fix it - just make up a story on how it got that way, eg. you scratched it while running from headhunters deep in the Borneo jungle while on a shootout from National Greographic.

Seriously - try using oilbased paint and the tiny brushes that people use for colouring model airplanes and stuff like that.

Someone suggested using White Correction Fluid (used to be necessary for those ancient mechanical beasts known as typewriters, but still useful for photocopy magic) to restore the white lettering.

Another approach (untried) would be to fill the lettering with modelling clay, make it flush and clean, then paint the surface with rubber cement, remove the modelling clay, then paint with white paint, and then rub the rubber cement off.

You might try yellow for the body, for distinctiive results:

Or Spring Green goat skin Canon: http://www.cameraleather.com/canonet/

Pure matte black is another approach: http://brunerdog.tripod.com/canonproject.html

Red / Green color scheme is also possible: http://daniel.mitchell.name/cameras/repaint/repaint.html

Thank you all for the suggestion,

Sapro, so...you are the guy who gets the plate

Jakob, thats an idea.. I am Indonesian myself so Borneo sounds reasonable. National Geographic ?? hmmm, I wish

Monito...thanks for all the links. Those are way cool cameras...the yellow rebel is funky looking, other colors are tempting...but pure matte is fantastic idea too. We'll see what I will do.

Thanks again, ansye

Just go shoot a role of Velvia through your EOS 3 and the results will leave you in such AWE that you'll forget about the little scratch on the body. Is your camera a tool to take photos or is it a conversation piece to sit on your mantle?

I usually put a piece of black gaffer's or electrical tape over the logos on my cameras to make them more low key for street shooting. Anyhoo, it adds character. Thanks for your purchase ansye, and enjoy the camera!
