Just wanted to share my feedback on the TTArtisan 28mm viewfinder that I bought for my newly acquired Ricoh GR III...
I bought the GR about a month ago and I knew in advance that I would be struggling with a camera that is lacking a viewfinder (one of the many annoyances of getting old). Surprisingly, using the EFV is not as painful as I thought and I can most often than not compose my shots. But not when hiking or biking in the bright Nevada desert and even less when wearing sunglasses.
I started researching for viewfinder options and read quite few reviews recommending either the Zeiss, Voigtlander, Leitz, Nikon or Sigma as an alternative to the pricy Ricoh GV-2. Only issue, they sell for anything between $150 to $500! So I decided to give the TTArtisan a try, even if the online reviews were mixed.
The construction is all metal and glass (there is also a removable rubber eyepiece), and it fits snugly in the hotshoe. It's not too big, but the camera is no longer pocketable with it. Most importantly, the view is sharp and bright and it gives a good approximation of the framing.
On the other hand, the eye relief is too short and if you are wearing glasses like I do, the coverage will drop to around 70-80%. Also, there is no marking whatsoever so you will have to guess for parallax correction.
But overall, I like it a lot and I will be using it more often than I thought.
