The TFC-24 is more than double the stiffness (average) of your Feisol. The TFC-24L would still be better. In case you do not know, check out this website with actual stiffness measurements:
From my experience, within the 28-29mm top tube class, GT2542 (I assume you meant the Mountaineer and not the Traveler) is at the top of the heap, and certainly none at 60" without extending the center column unless you want to go for a size bigger (32mm top tube). The RRS is a good contender, Leofoto 32mm top tube at that height would not be as good as the GT2542...Show more →
I do know about that site and have been using it as part of my research. I see your point, and will approach Leofoto with caution compared to RRS/Gitzo, but the Leofoto ranks right up there with the big brand names.

Feisol CT-3441T & CC tripod supports a 27 lb load and has a working height of 57 inches without using the center column. It weighs onl 2.63 lb and collapses down to 18.9 inches and comes with an excellent carry case, unlike Gitzo and RRS where it is an additional expense. My wife has been using hers for nearly a decade.
Add in the height gain of a gimbal head to the working height of the tripod.
For subjects up in the trees my own Feisol CT-3472 tripod with the available center column kit provides a stable working height of 63 inches and supports a 600mm f/4 13 lb lens and a 2 lb camera with zero issues. It replaced a RRS TVC-34L and the Feisol is superior in every respect to the RRS and the current Gitzo tripods. Older Gitzo tripods were much better built than ones I have bought more recently and had to return....Show more →
Interesting to hear your experience with the CT-3472 compared to current Gitzo/RRS.
I'm quite curious to try a CT-3441T—it looks like a great balance of specs. I wish The Center Column had rated the T version and not just the S. I imagine the ranking would be similar, but curious to know how much of a difference the extra length per leg section would make.
i have been using RRS tripods since 2009. started out with one of the original builds of TVC33. before that i tried out the early Feisol. the Feisol had some design quirks that required some baseline mods which was done. after using my TVC for quite a few years my usage shifted and i got the TVC24 and then another in 2018 and sold off my TVC33 and later one of the TVC24's and replaced it with a then TQC/TFC14. this has turned into my most used legsets being able to swap the apex out in a few minutes as i can with the TVC24 to a TFC. it is being used on most of my mobile trips.
i will say on the 24 and 14 i use the TVC versions w/center post and the 14 version in both TVC/TFC. i work with a few organizations in various locations. i travel relatively light but somewhat too.
just my irrelevant piece and you do have options in the TVC24 such as the L size.

Thanks for weighing in! What were the design quirks of the Feisol?
Were there any differences/improvements between the older TVC24 and the newer one?
the threaded base for the foot is a different thread than most. from what i remember it was metric. this made it somewhat problematic to use the other feet i had such as the which are 3/8-16. (Their spikes from what I remember were 6mm and pretty kludgie) spikes and such that i had from my previous Gitzo which works fine on my RRS. not much but it is there and can be limiting. truthfully i don't know if maybe the updated it. I drilled out and set in a insert with a
the first generation TVC24 will not allow the swapping of the apexes due to a different angle used on the bolt on points for the legs (these days make it slightly more compact circumference wise). i finally sold off the TFC24 apex due to my lack of use because of my usage of the other named "accessory" components. all other apex components like the included removable center mount, 12" center post* and leveling base work fine.
the CP is the beefiest around. aluminum Alloy rather than CF with a very minimal weight difference. more than quite rigid compared to other products on the market. use it often enough to own it.
yes i did own a 25 series gitzo a long time ago too.
i have not had to look into any other tripods for my usage for years. they are a victim of their own quality. it seems i use gear till it fails.
14 and 24 fit in my roller
1st gen 24 modular setup
original TVC33 2009 not one to fly with and carry around long distances i go to with ease

Good to know! Most of the things you mention aren't concerns for me (e.g., spiked feet, and I don't need a bowl apex, so swappable apexes aren't a major concern—a potential benefit, for sure, but not a priority). What do you mean by "CP?" Is that something related to RRS, or a different brand, or ?
center post. personally of course that's your option. of the two apex options it comes to have and maybe not need or have and later want. i have a fair number of years using these. but then thats me
