I visited the Lido Beach preserve the other day hoping to see the monarch butterflies as they migrate through Long Island yet I only saw two of them so the timing was not as usual. It was cloudy with showers for my visit so not the kind of light that makes swallows look there best yet it was fun standing on the observation deck as small groups whizzed past me. I suspect they are gathering and building up to make the hop across the Atlantic from Long Island to New Jersey.
Comments and suggestions welcome,
Morris
