The Black Canyon is a hidden gem of a national park and one of my favorite places to climb. It's unique in that you start at the top, descend into the hole where I always imagine gravity increasing with each step down, and climb the vertical walls out. A friend and I planned for a dawn wake up to get ready to descend into the canyon to climb, but he came down sick and slept in allowing me to go after a photo I've always wanted to capture. Incoming rainstorms provided a great ambiance!

No photo can quite convey the crazy steepness and depth of that canyon, but yours gets close. I remember signage at one of the stops, maybe Warner Point, indicating the Empire State Building would only make it about halfway up from the river level.

When I was there at the edge, I couldn't talk myself in leaning over to take the Photo. I had another person take it for me with my camera. At least I have some decent shots. A great place to visit, and a good place to take in if you are doing fall colors in the area.

Very nicely done. Great light. I love the contrast of the movement in the sky with the stillness in the canyon. Bravo!
