I have read several reviews for each of these lenses, but I'd like to hear from folks who have actually used both. How well do they perform wide open? Is there really a noticeable difference in IQ (especially if both lenses are stopped down to f5.6)? How well do they focus, etc?

Love both. No issues with either. Virtually all lenses improve stopped down for obvious reasons but these are both still very sharp wide open.

Love hate relationship with the original hoods. Both broke and are expensive to replace but I love the on lens storage without removal.

I own both (f/4 for compact travel, f/2.8 for everything else). They are stupid sharp wide open, and focus speed is excellent. The only downside of the f/4 lens is, well, f/4.

And the f4 does not take MC
I don't have f4 lens but f2.8

said to be one of the best olympus lenses

Disadvantage of f2.8 is that it is larger and heavier

But the biggest advantage as I see it's a f2.8 and then that it takes Mc
and at closer range it is really good with Mc
