Nice - panning or photoshop blur? I presume former?

Do they just let you in with a big lens. I went to vegas and the rules said - no big lens/bodies.

My wife is lobbying for vegas again this year - but I want to do Imola next May.

That's another reason why the Vegas race sucks. All the tracks I've been to still allow you to take in long lenses.
The Vegas race gives you ⅓ the action for twice the money; no support races, isolated to one part of the track. I've been watching and going to F1 races since the 70s and now live in Vegas but I refuse to pay those ticket prices for so little action. For the same money I could fly to Montreal or a European race.

If you do want to do the Vegas race again I suggest waiting 1 or 2 years. Interest in rooms and tickets has fallen off this year. If it is anything like the Miami race year 3 will have much better deals.

Panning, I did mostly between 1/15 and 1/50

In Monza you can take lenses as big as you want. Max backpack volume is 25L and max 500ml drinks and no power banks....
It is also one of the few tracks that if you know where you can still find some spots with no fences in front.

Which ones were shot with the 2x TC. Considering getting this lens for wildlife and selling the RF100-500.
600 at f/5.6 and 420 at f/4 sounds nice

Or try one of the IMSA endurance race events. The one here in Ontario, at Mosport (Canadian Tire Motorsports Park), was very easy to photograph as a spectator from a number of locations (I used my 200-400 and 70-200, but some spots would benefit from a 600 & 1.4 or 2x TC), and was only about $70 for the weekend (the featured race was only 2.5 hours though). I posted some photos in the summer images thread here. OK, sure, it's not F1, but IMO it's probably the second best car race weekend in Canada other than the Montreal GP. It is probably the best major car race in Canada to photograph from general admission. Unfortunately the top class of cars was not there this year, but it was still very worthwhile. My wife even enjoyed it. You're closer to Road America in Wisconsin, which apparently is another really nice track. F1 is cool, but IMO probably better to watch on TV.

If you're going to do a race in Europe, my vote would be Le Mans.

I'm curious what you used as a ND solution considering the filter size of the 100-300 is quite large.

Did you climb the fence and walk the track after the race? Not sure if that still happens. It's probably what I remember most from when I was there some (long) time ago.

Is 2h drive from where I live, I normally go only on Friday as is less crowded and I can move around easily and I can cover 2-3 spots over the two FP sessions.

I watch the race on TV on Sunday. But yes, the invasion is still there and this year with Ferrari's win even more people going on the track, they now open the gate to avoid people falling from the fances.

As NDs I use Ice 112mm ND very inexpensive but yet not bad quality, much better than any vari ND, Mine are screw-in but I believe now you can get magnetic too.

I'm considering Kolari clip-in (once they test on a R5 II) as I have so many NDs for many lenses that is just a pita.... I gave up with vNDs as they are not good, and the X patterns kills me.

I took my RF 100-300 out this morning on the R3 + 2 xTC to see how it would perform with a smallish Green Heron so not filling the sensor, and I am really pleased with how it performs.
