Can't seem to figure out how to get the camera to name clips with some thing better than this: A_0006C113H240830_100020EJ_RDPII.MP4

Anyone figure this out yet?

The camera will name video files with that many characters? Every Canon I've owned will only do 8 characters. The R6 Mark II being the most recent I own. Is your ingestion program naming them that way?

The 8+3 is the DCIM standard. The R5m2 doesn't use DCIM standard for video files, it uses the much more ... liberal XF-AVC naming convention. This may run afoul of using legacy software for media download that looks only in the DCIM folder, as the DCIM standard stipulates. When I saw this, I immediately validated that R5m2 CRM and video files get downloaded correctly in the softwares (and digital wallet) that I use

You guys don’t know how to get the camera to use a shorter name? Or at least a more customizable name?

ronno,
I could not find a way. I guess this matches Canon video camera naming method.

Since this does not follow DCIM standard, I have struggled to find EXIF type info on my movie clips.

DPP4 latest version does not give me info like it did on my R5 files.

I can get some info from lightroom. Since I am trying different things, like crop mode, 4k fine, 4k ect.,I would like to look at everything I could get from the R5. I edit in DaVinci Resolve 19 and can see some info but not all.

Does anyone know how to get that info out of the video files?

Dave
