This is part of what makes autumn exciting for me, we never know with certainty what the conditions will be year to year in any location, and I’ve found that when I accept what is given and just make the best of that, there are always small gifts of beauty revealed. For me, being out in amazing locations even in a ‘bad’ autumn year is always better than staying home!

Beautiful. Love the foggy shot. Also one of my favorite seasons - when I travel/camp/photograph after the heat of summer that keeps me around home.

Goodness, these are wonderful images, Ross! Great compositions and excellent variety of scenes and moods. You've got my vote on these. Very well done!
P.S. -- No.s 2 and 10 are my favorites -- but they are all very outstanding compositions!

Wow, these are incredible. I love #1 and #3. The colors of number one are just outstanding, and number three's stark contrast between the red leaves in the gray background, combined with the trunk lines to keep the viewers gaze contained within the frame are haunting and gorgeous.

Thanks Jim! Yes I agree about how refreshing that is to be traveling/camping/shooting after the summer heat has subsided, it’s like new found freedom.

Thanks much! My favorite time to photograph autumn is past peak, such as in #2, because of the graphicness of the bare forest and the way small bits of remaining colors stand out against that.
