Seems official:
https://www.canonrumors.com/canon-has-delayed-the-next-eos-r5-mark-ii-shipments-by-potentially-6-months/
https://personal-canon-jp.translate.goog/product/camera/important-info/detail-231107?_x_tr_sl=ja&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en-GB

I know Canon and others often come out with these high demand type announcements but this one reads a bit extreme?? Hopefully it will be like most of the other times and not really be this long.

That site loves to do those kinds of things, there is stock available at retailers so why would Canon produce more if they can't sell what's in stock?

Ignore it.

There is zero stock in Canada but maybe the US still has a surplus. My retailer still has over 50 preorders waiting and that is just one store.

Both BH and Adorama are out of stock.

I’m sure there is still lots of demand over supply and Canon would be pumping more out if they could.
It is a phenomenal camera at a killer price point. No way they are stopping production because of over supply.

They're quoting Canon's actual announcement, which states up to a 6 month delay for new orders.

In stock from day one, demand seems low around here.

No stock in Norway, one major retailer still has it on "preorder".

The price is also high here, in the same range as the GFX100s II and one price class above the GFX100s or the GFX50s II.

Just checked and in stock at the retailer near my home. Typical Canon and others ploy to get demand up. Looks to be par for the course now days. But, they are flooding the market in the US. Canon Rumors will do anything for clicks. And Canon will do and say anything for sales. Par for the course. Keeps the price inflated and demand up for the short term. Personally I am waiting until all this nonsense is over before I even think about ordering one.
Not only that but in a few months will have one or two firmware updates.

The most important question is where is your report on the R5II. Or did I miss it somewhere?

Isn't Norway one of the highest tax based countries in the world? Over 50% I think.

Initial report was not in depth as weather played havoc on my testing days. But I just got the R5II back in hand yesterday evening and will be doing a full day of testing in good light all day today. Will report more after I digest today's results and solidify my thoughts.

The US had most of the world's stock and Canon did a good job building a stock pile before release. I think the first day it even went on sale in Japan was just yesterday or the day before.

But the rest of the world, including Canada, was short changed on release.
Yes there will still surely be places to secure an R5II in the US at smaller stores. And even big stores have kits available still.
But regardless, people on CR forums have confirmed with big US dealers and Canadian dealers that they have no ETA on more cameras...basically saying the ones that will trickle in will go to preorders but new orders they have no idea and have been told by Canon that it could be 6months+.

It looks like Canon may still be having a hard time producing stacked sensors in significant volumes.

The camera was released in Japan on the 30th August, with the page below on Canon’s website updated on 29th August. My understanding of the translation is new for orders from this point forward may be delayed up to 6 months.

https://personal.canon.jp/product/camera/important-info/detail-231107

UK retailers did not get many allocated. Most got a handful of cameras. One large retailer got enough to clear around 25% of their preorders according to CR - if it’s the retailer I suspect, they had more than 300 on pre-order. I’ve been told by the retailer I ordered through they are expecting more this month but no confirmation on dates or numbers expected.

I know of a Japanese photographer who ordered 10 minutes after Japanese pre-orders started and didn’t get one in initial allocation.

I think by providing B&H and Adorama with enough stock to clear pre-orders and take some day 1 of release orders, Canon have been quite smart - there isn’t the large outcries on social media and YouTube that there would have been otherwise.

It is true that we are relatively high taxed, but it is not as bad as the rumors say. Income and public goods also follows to a degree. On top of the taxes, our currency is weak now so all camera gear is expensive.

Relative to other (flagship) cameras, the R5II is still a class more affordable than the Sony A1 for example.

My intention was to poke the few remaining waiting for a Canon high resolution R camera. Medium format no longer comes at a premium. Life is short. If you want those gorgeous 100MP files, get the Fuji GFX 100s now. If we get a Canon, it will be expensive.

Now, pushing Fuji on the Canon board, I hope to engage some fanboys

miniMF has come a long as, and Fujifilm is largely responsible for the rapid increase in its use, advances in its operability, and the drastically lowering costs. For the right photographers, the current GFX system can be ideal.

However, many used to the flexibility of FF systems — especially the range of available lenses — may have a hard time putting together a GFX system that will let them do all of the things they are used to doing with FF.

A great system, but definitively not for everyone.

Sounds to me that there is a problem with camera, software, or production. 6 months is a long time in the computer world.

Or it is simple as there is not enough demand so they scale down production.

Have you ever considered the possibility that Canon is not lying in the statement?

"due to more orders than expected and also due to the impact of global parts supply."
