p.2 #1 · p.2 #1 · R5 II glitched out

Software bugs will be ironed out. Today's cameras are incredibly complex and I am glad that it is not me writing the software (you should be too).

Hardware bugs would be a different matter.

I don't know yet if I will get this camera. I don't do video, wildlife, or sports, don't shoot JPEG, don't use flash. The top display is also wasted on me since I would need my reading glasses. I don't like using glasses when I am out in the field. The CF Express card would just be a backup for my UHS-I SD card in the other slot. The increased resolution (compared with my R6II) does not hurt, but the 75x50 cm prints on my wall look jolly fine even for the original 5D with its 13 Mp. I do need to crop sometimes though, so like I said, resolution does not hurt. What intrigues me though is the eye-control AF. Being able to near-instantly pick the subject when there is more than one person in the frame would be a game changer - if it works for me.

Well, that is just me pondering. There is no sign yet of the R5II in Norway, so I happily leave the debugging to you folks.

Duade reports he had a lockup requiring battery pull during his first two sessions with the R5II.
Seems Canon still hasn't worked out how to prevent these lockups that were prevalent on the R5.
