p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Canon EOS R5 MK II Shooting Issue

When shooting with my R5 II a white outline appears around the image in the EVF when I press the shutter button half way to focus. When I press he shutter button all the way to shoot, a buzzing sound is heard, not the shutter "snap" that ordinarily occurs.

When I play back the images, a note appears on the screen "MODE movie - still switching."

This occurs in all shutter modes (elec., mechanical, etc.) and all shooting modes (high speed cont., single shot, etc.)
I saw another R5 II user raise the game issue in an online forum, but no one had an answer.

Has anyone else experienced this and/or can anyone offer a solution?

I am experiencing the same thing- I don't think its a problem but a little perpexled as to WTF is happening when replaying your images. The White outer box is just the framing-

I don't hear any buzzing sound though other than the focus motor moving sligthly in Continuous AF.

Pictures have been coming out amazing so I think its just something a little off on playback.

Also I have experienced a few times when bringing the EVF up to my eye, the focus box doesn't appear and no other data shows in the EVF. Just the scene. I have to bring back down and then up again and its back to normal.

The latter seems like a software bug- I am going to contact Canon about it.

Ok- I actually really like the feature- I need to get it to not show up everytime though on first review.

Take a few videos and its worth it. If you press mode, it will jump between videos folder and stills folder. Really nice feature if you have videos/photos on card at same time.

Hopefully there is a way to disable it. I am looking through the manual but maybe thats an ask for Canon in firmware.

The buzzing sound is the artificial shutter sound since the e-shutter doesn't make any noise and apparently people missed it. You can turn it on with "Beep - off" or selectively in the Volume settings.

Do you have the auto power-off set to a short time? It's possible the camera is going to sleep. If you have a lot of images on the card, it takes longer for it to wake up (it polls the card first to determine card contents) and isn't ready by the time you have the camera up to your eye. At first you'll see an image through the EVF without any information overlaid, then all that stuff will suddenly appear after a couple seconds.

If this is the case, adjust the power saving settings to delay how quickly it powers down.

Thanks. I did not know that you can control the Beep volume separately, so only the shutter makes a sound. The Canon menus are a bit ridiculous. They could have the Beep and Volume on one page.
