R5ii Bricked With Err70 On Day 1

Got my r5ii @ 12 noon.. configured the camera and took a few shots at 8pm. I tried to edit the button config some more and received the dreaded Err70: Remove battery/turn off.

The bitch never came on after that. 😡

Bought it from a local store and will attempt a swap tomorrow. So mad right now & emailed the place to hold one for me. Has anyone else with one received this issue?? A quick look online shows it’s a motherboard issue.

Luck of the draw sometimes with complex electronics.
Were you using the correct battery and first party Canon lens?

Brand new style Canon official battery and RF 50mm 1.2.. no aftermarket anything.

I had that happen with a Fuji XH2 a few years back- Not the error but a complete failure.

Local shop took care of me. Shit happens -

Oh man that's the worst. Hopefully you'll get a quick resolution.

Back in the day I had waited FOREVER for a PS3 (playstation 3). I finally saved up enough money for it and the game Gran Turismo. Got home from work set everything up cleared my whole night to soak it in...and half way through the intro reel the system just powered itself off and wouldn't come back on. Game disk trapped inside so I couldn't even return/exchange it. Had to send it to Sony.

Had mine 3 days. About 2000 shots and 2 videos down the pipe. Configured it same as my R5 1. No issues so far and am liking the AF a lot.

Started getting Error 70 last weekend on my R5M1. Switched out the CFEB cards. It seems to not like the Sabrent Cards for some reason. I've already had a complete board changed out before this last year.

Yep! Took it back and exchanged for another body. This ones been on 10 outings, shooting 2k photos each and is holding up perfectly. I did get a small issue with video where the live view doesn’t return after you shoot a few clips.. a restart fixes it though. I’m hearing there’s a firmware update next week, so I’m looking forward to that.
