As a recent convert to Canon from Sony, I settled on an R5, but just bought a used R3. I already have the RF version of the 70-200 and then couldn’t pass up a deal for the EF ii version for $750. I also just purchased the 1.4 and 2.0 EF tc’s in a package deal on EBay. Which do I keep? I know I got a very good deal on the EF lens and that makes the decision a bit difficult. Anybody here use both on an R body?

The R is a lot lighter, but the EF IS v2 is already at a very high level afaik, only shot it a little though. If the weight doesn't bother you the EF V2 should be good.

EF tc's should only work on the EF, due to the distances, I believe 70-200/2.8 IS II takes them. Not sure on tc on the Rf lens

I personally prefer the EF version due to it's internal zoom. Mine is also the Version II, and I use it all the time on my R5 with the EF X1.4 and X2 extenders. Sharpness is very (VERY) good. But you have to deal with a long lens if stacking the RF to EF adapter, the extender, and the lens.

Thanks. It’s a matter of handling more weight for the most part. Luckily, during football season, I don’t have to have it up to my eye for a minute at a time.

If you don't need to get rid of a lens, consider keeping both. Many years ago, I purchased a new EF 70-200 f/2.8 Sigma for my Canon 20D. I used it for years and finally replaced it with an MK2 Canon version, which I still use. The old Sigma sat for years unused until I got a C100ii. The Sigma now has a new life as a video lens. My point is, if you don't need the money, keep both lenses because you may find a use for it that you can't foresee now.

I prefer the RF because it's much lighter and packs smaller. But the EF has the advantage if it's your only long lens and you need the flexibility that TC compatibility provides. If it's going to be a lens on a second body for action closer to the sidelines, then hands down, for me, the RF.
