Canon R5 - quick folder creation

Hi folks.
What route would you take to either be able to create a new folder with a button press (or near close) or rename files in a button press (or near close) ?
The circumstance is for example taking images of dogs at an event, record perhaps between 10-20 before the next dog. Dogs look similar (in this case).
How would you separate them on your memory cards?

Edit. As a new member I cannot reply to you as yet. Appreciate the feedback from you all.
Blank frames or shot of the sky etc sound very helpful.
How to access new folder from one button is great, and thanks to the sport shooter for the route.
100 dogs, same breed, almost zero gap between them I sometimes get the wrong dog in the wrong album and inevitably someone gets upset (or two people).

Simple way in my mind would be to take some photos of something else in-between dogs. For instance, do you have a list of the different dogs in order of their appearance? Could you take a pic of the list with that dog's name or the owner's name highlighted or your finger pointing to it? I would think this would be faster.

Folders might be a good way but, to be honest, I've never worked to do that before so I can't give any feedback on that. Perhaps, though, you could make several folders ahead of time and then just select the one you want the photos to be written to as you go?

I'm sure someone with better experience can speak to the folders idea.

A couple blank frames between dogs, as suggested, would be quick, easy and an obvious visual clue.

If you want to quickly make a new folder, you can assign that to a button. For example I sometimes assign this function to the DOF preview button (on my R6II; I am assuming it's also an option for the R5). One problem with making a new folder is that inevitably you'll forget to make a new one from time to time.

It's pretty easy to hit menu, go to Folders, and hit New Folder on my older DSLR so I wouldn't think it's that hard on R5. Maybe 2 or 3 presses of a button, pretty easy

I've used the smallest files on the camera to mark stuff, too often I forget to move it back to the full size though, and it really doesn't take up that much card space to blow a frame to mark something imo. So I like the blank frame suggestion.

I use this all the time for sports. Go to custom buttons in the orange menu, choose the centre button on the back wheel, and choose the new folder option.

I forgot to include that I also added this menu item to the green 'my menus' section along with other more frequently accessed menu items so that they're all together in a group. But if I'm covering an event that benefits from, or requires a new folder for each game, event, etc., I'll add the feature to a camera button, such as DOF preview, for direct access (I use the SET button on the back wheel for image review and magnification).

A couple of blank frames and tagging the 1st image in the new set is what I’ve done before. I can select tagged images easily in Photo Mechanic and find the images I need quickly. I also use the voice memo function extensively with info in the first frame for easier identification.
