I believe the issues I'm finding are from PRE, because this is running all the time for me. As it is, one battery for an afternoon or morning is barely enough. You want at least a second battery. Personally, I didn't plan on using the battery grip but after a week of shooting it, I was finding it too marginal and finally broke down and bought one, along with a 3rd battery (2 extras to go with the included battery). The third might be overkill, but I no longer worry about batteries and feature lockouts.

Or bring along a PD capable power brick to plug in to the camera's USB-C port to charge while you're not using it. Chances are you may already have one for charging your other devices. If the power brick will put out enough wattage it should also be able to power the camera while in use (this is the case with other Canon R cameras). It might need to be at least 45W for powering during use. Of course, not as convenient as extra batteries.
