Dave, it's probable that your batch of Neewer LP-E6NH are an older version, which if you bought them around 2018, wouldn't be surprising. I have six of them purchased between fall 2022 and earlier this year. They're difficult to resist when they're discounted to ~$40 CAD for two with charger on Amazon. All of them work fine with my R6 and R6II.
Three of my four Canon batteries bought in fall 2022 now show only two bars health, but I still get more shutter actuations from them than the Neewer (when I use one of each in the grip), which still show three bars and always charge to 100% (the Canons now typically top out at 96-98%). When all were new, both Canon and Neewer, even then I got about 15% more actuations with the Canons when both reported the same/similar capacity level. I do think there is a difference, to the advantage of the Canon batteries, but considering I can buy six Neewer for slightly more than one Canon, and that I have not had any failures with the Neewer, it's difficult to justify more of the OEMs at this point for my set up. That said, if I was an R5II early adopter, I'd definitely get a few more of the new P batteries.
For those coming from the R5, the R5II should get more shots per charge, which would mean the need for fewer spares. That was definitely my experience between the R6 and R6II. And my brief time with the R5 gave me the impression that it was somewhat more power hungry than the R6...
