No worry. You could grab a few on the way out as part of the deal.

my experience with Canon from 2003 to 2008 was not the smoothest. it is the reason why i use what i do from 2008 till now.

Wouldn't it be nice to be told you could keep everything you could carry.
I'd grab everything in the first two racks closest to the camera on the second rows, then hang as many 400's by their straps in my teeth and keep both hands ready to grab a couple of those 100-300's as I head out the door.

I'd keep one each of the 400, 600 and 100-300 and sell the rest. My wife and I would be able to go on nice trips every

That's the go-to lens for most field sports.

Nowadays I imagine the 100-300 is going to get wide use in indoor arenas.

In the Rio games I saw a lot of 200-400mm, especially outdoors.

I was also trying to figure out what those multiple cameras were for. I thought perhaps they were used for analysis for judging replay, like when an athlete lands out of bounds.

By the way, here's a great video about the Olympic Broadcasting Service, the IOCs production organization:

Not quite photo related but about how they broadcast video around the world and the logistics of the Games.

well, in the end it seems the still image is far from dead as a medium.

The black lenses are conspicuously absent in the sea of white Canon and Sony glass at most venues. The Nikon shooters must still be waiting for their invitations to come in the mail.

Who said it was dead? The still image isn't dead, it's just been commoditized.

Well, if it always was a commodity it was never dead because it always had value. So basically you agree with me.

Photos are simply less unique now than even 30 years ago. It's very easy to find multiple similar photos taken in the last 20 years, making them fungible - the definition of a a commodity. You could thumb through the Bettmann Archive, not a small collection and you won't find too many similar photos. If the originals were ever sold they'd each go for large bills too.

it has slowed down vs that of videos these past years. it is a continuous project to keep up and to fill. i am one of those that try to do so.

just look at the average cell phone shot of someone's lunch. now there's history.

Yep, I was going to post that image over in the 200-800 thread and point it out that there are at least 8 of them just setting there collecting dust.
But I thought better of it considering the current topic in there. That would make a few peoples head explode.

There are plenty of people shooting with the Z8 and Z9 at the Olympics. I’ve seen at least 10-15 of them. And that shot of the surfer on the previous page was taken with a Z9.

Plenty of Nikons in the background of broadcasts I've been watching. AFP (Agence France-Presse) which is based in Paris is one of the world's largest news agencies and they've had a partnership in some form or another with Nikon for many years. I don't know if AFP is exclusively supplied by Nikon.

That seems about right number for Nikon... but then there are around 3,000 accredited photographers at the games.

Why are trying to induce a Brand war? Why does it matter?

It doesn't, but here you are participating in it.

I could care less what brands are being used. I only posted images from one event. Not my fault there were mostly white lenses in the background of that one shot.

If you could care less, you would. So do you, or don't you?

It isn't about quantity but quality.

The most iconic image so far of these games is of the surfer in the air. The article about that image states the photog is from AFP, and they have been shooting Nikon for the last few years.

Sony sensors, of course
