I would like to put a new covering on my non-TTL Leica M6 and would like to solicit suggestions for sources of die-cut leather for this purpose. I would also like to know if anyone has had recent successful dealings with cameraleather.com. I cannot find much commentary online that is less than several years old, and most of it consists of complaints about slow response times and generally poor service, but no complaint as to quality of product.

Curiously, Hugo Studio does not offer leather cut for the Leica M6. They appear to have leather for all other Leica M bodies, but the M6 is excluded from some reason.

I am aware of Aki-Ashi as a source with a fine reputation, but my recent inquiry regarding specific color choices never received a response.

Start by sending an email to Cameraleather. If Morgan responds in a couple of days, there’s a good chance you’ll get a nice product. More than two days, forget about Cameraleather. Hugo Studios use t be responsive and offered some great products. I had a Nikkormat painted OD green and used a Hugo StingRay cover. It looked great. Aki-Ashi was always fast to respond and of the group, their covers fit the best. Coming out of the pandemic has disrupted a lot of once steady suppliers, I’m not surprised you’re encountering these problems. Let us know what you find.
