We even caught a kangaroo boxing match! The kids loved it, but sadly they were the weakest photos I took:

As always, I am eager to improve and impossible to offend!

More times than not, zoo photos are very difficult due to the fencing, etc.. The first Kangaroo 'boxing' photo reminds me of a scene I've seen recently of a college campus protest! :-)
The second Macaw image would be much stronger with a horizontal crop across the middle of the frame -- if you have enough resolution to do that. The red Macaw image just needs to be cropped much tighter also.
One tip I might add is to try to find situations where the subject is in fairly bright lighting some distance from the fencing, and the fencing is in shadow. If that contrast is great, the fencing will basically be invisible in the image.

That's exactly what I was after, thanks! New and improved:

I really do appreciate the tips.

Neat trip to the zoo. I like your rework of the parrots. Looks like a fun trip to the zoo.

If you can get close to the fence, and focus through the fence with a wide aperture (f4.0 , f2.8 or wider), at times it can help “eliminate “ the look of the fence. However, I fully understand that more times than not you can not get close to the fence . The important thing is to have fun and enjoy .
