Dynamic range, low light, feel in the hand, customization it seems are incremental.
I'm not so sure about that. I watched Vanessa Joy's video last night and she showed off a shot taken at 32000 ISO (not a typo) that was remarkably clean for that extreme level and super clean and sharp after denoise was applied.
Also disagree about the customization being incremental, but I suppose that depends on one's needs but for me here's just a couple huge new adds that I've been pining for for awhile:
- ability to change the max FPS in each continuous drive mode. (Obviously unimportant for landscape shooter, but nice to have if you shoot action/wildlife).
- Pre-shooting (apparently w/o the need of special software to extract).
- Dual shooting (record video and take photos simultaneously)
I've only started to attentively watch reviewer videos or go over the spec sheet, but I'm discovering a lot of nuggets that differentiate it from the R5.
Finally, I'm very much hoping the ergonomics have not changes. The R5 is one of the most comfortable, natural in-hand bodies I've ever owned. Apparently the R5 II is a tad thicker to accommodate the new vents, so we'll see how that affects ergonomics, but I suspect it will be so slight it won't matter to me, but might make it a better fit for those with larger hands.
