I can't figure out why no one mentions anything on FM about Lightening Triggers? Is there some technique I'm missing where you don't need one, especially during the day where you wouldn't just leave the shutter open in the dark in Bulb mode? I guess you could use a ND filter, but is that the technique and if so, which ND filter do I use and how?
Is it worth paying about $175 for a Miops or another brand and let the trigger do it? Do they work well?
There is a new Miops trigger comimg out that can be used on most brands of camera depending on the cable and you can switch cables. It's $175. You control it from your cell while sitting safely in your car .
I'm going to Florida, the Lightening Capitol of the US, so you can get some amazing shots from the swamps. Thanks.

Sarasota is allegedly the lightening capitol of the U.S. But imho after living there for 25 years? AZ tops Sarasota, at least in my area.
As for lightening triggers? I watched a Youtube video from a guy, can't remember who now, who says they are not worth the money as they are not very accurate. And if memory serves he gives tips on photographing lightening during all times.
I attempted to get lightening photos from my backyard at night. I was just experimenting and trying to see what I could get. Not too bad. Not shareable except on FB. I just did a 30 sec exposure at different focal lengths and ISO settings. Next time I'll head to an area with no street lights and homes in the field of view.
