Canon R5/6 30 Min Record Limit Still there?

p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Canon R5/6 30 Min Record Limit Still there?

Is the 30 minute record limit still in place for these cameras? I googled it and it and found many people claiming it would be fixed in a firmware but since I don't have these cameras I'm not sure if it ever was. Can anyone comment if the limit was removed or if there is some workaround?

The R6 was replaced with the R6 MK II almost 2 years ago and it has unlimited 4K video—well until the battery dies or the card runs out. Historically, Canon doesn't add new features to discontinued models. The R5 MK II is supposed to debut in a few days and it likely has improved thermal management and no 30 minute video limit.
