Advise for a 10L messenger bag?

p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Advise for a 10L messenger bag?

I own quite a few bags and I think I am not alone there, a ThinkTank Retrospective 20 which is way too big for everyday's usage, a 7L which on the other hand is too tight to fit the ML, an extra lens and some accessories.

I can tell the Retrospective 7L is not even the same quality as my old 20L, the metal accessories grew rust too quickly and the fabric tears same quickly so I am done with ThinkTank and looking for something durable, smart and not screaming photography.

I think for travel I'd go for the PeakDesign Everyday Messenger which is a 13L and should easily fit a MBAir13", a body with a lens attached and a couple extra lenses along with paperwork, chargers etc.

What should I look at for a bigger than my Restrospective 7 but smaller than the Everyday 13L? Is there any 10L bag which has a comfy padded strap and can fit a body, be it ML or reflex and a couple lenses and accessories for everyday's usage?

Saw some Manfrotto which is also cheaper for me as I am in Italy but reviews are not grand about them especially for the shoulder strap part.

Any suggestions?

Grazie

Tenba DNA 13 Messenger. Very durable, excellent shoulder pad, and subtle. Those two connectors up front are fidlock, and they are wonderful. Tenba makes larger and smaller versions of this bag (DNA 16 pro, 16 slim, & DNA 9 slim).

DNA 13 messenger outside dimensions (cm): 36W x 28H x 17D
Peak Design Everyday Messenger dims (cm): 41W top, x 36W bottom x 30H x 15-17D

I use the Wotancraft bags. Very well made and well thought out. I have the 3.5 l, the 7 l and the 10 l. They're not cheap but worth the money, in my experience. I've had the 7 l the longest and after three years of use, it still looks new.

You will have to pay for shipping from Taiwan, where they're made, plus customs and taxes in your country.

A PeakDesign Everyday Sling 10L might work. When I'm trying to be really compact, it fits my Z6 with a 14-30mm attached, room for another small-ish lens, a couple EN-EL15 batteries, and a 13" MBA M1 with its charger. With all that in there, it feels funky to wear since it's a sling.

Go with the Everyday Messenger.

i have the Res 7 and the 20 too.
the 7 (5 years old)is used for my D500 16-80/4 and 11-20/2.8 and Z6 24-70 or 24-120/4 and 14-30/4 lastly my Z9 with 24-120/4 and 14-30/4
the 20 (2 years old)is used for my Z9 with 24-120/4 and 14-30/4 and 70-200/2.8E w/FTZII attached. in addition quite a few other accessories

now i have modded a few minor things like replacing the shoulder straps with modular(removable) nylon ones either one of these bags fit in my pack i use for travel.

i purchased 2 sets of shoulder straps that are used on Presspass 20. somewhat reduced volume/compressable, removable and a wee bit lighter

In my Retrospective 7 I actually fit the Z6II with the 24-70/4 and another lens like the 50/1.8, the other lens slot I have a little bag with some little tools, I might fit another lens there but it's tight; I can even fit the D850 with a prime lens and an extra lens, say the 58 and 85, front pocket paperwork, few tools here and there but it is really tight and heavy, I wish a 10L could fit, just in case of need, a 13" Air and a little more comfy to carry the same camera arrangement which is fine for an everyday usage, I don't need more than two lenses but it can be either the ML or a Reflex and with the 7L it gets really tight.

I thought of the Wotancraft but don't like the shiny finish too much, also the side pockets with an elastic fit don't suit me and seen in some videos overall I don't like the look too much.

The Temba looks very anonymous, I thought of the Manfrotto but read many complaints about the shoulder strap padding.

The PeakDesign looks nice, it's encouraging to know the 10L Sling might also fit the 13" Air if needed.

Thanks

If it’s just the shoulder strap that’s a problem, you can buy aftermarket pads or replacement straps.
