Womp womp. Seems like the result is not what I expected. I thought I'd be getting results somewhat better than 2x non-interpolation upscale from non-TC pictures, but it seems not like that.
There is various variables - the RF 2x TC (TC) I bought was second hand, so it's not pristine from a padded box. The JJC RF-EF converter (C) needed quite a filing and it still doesn't like to fit into the lens part of the TC lightly like an end of a RF lens. Funny that because it has no problems fitting to the actual RF mount of the camera, and from what I feel while putting the C on the TC, it's more like the mount itself is resisting somewhere, not the protrusion of the TC in the enlarged hole of the C.
I've shot the non-TC photo through the same modified C that was also on the TC. I do have original Canon's C, but that one I want to have just for plain usage of the EF lenses on the RF camera (also it was more expensive and would require even more filing ),
The lens was ubiquitous EF-50/1.8 STM.
These are just small 1:1 crops from the center frame of R6/2, SOOC jpegs. To rule out all other factors, I was just interested in the small part of the frame where the lens is best and which was directly used to focus the lens. It was not in any way some controlled test, the camera was not perpendicular to the wall, but the distance was about 4 meters and aperture was f/2.8, shot from the tripod, so camera didn't move. In any way the TC would still have looked better than 2x upscale, right? Right?
Well, behold my womp womp:

No TC, 2x upscale no interpolation:

Well at least I can't say I didn't try. Now that I think of it, I should have shot the same shot with the EF-100/2 just for the comparision of case of a "WonderTC from an ideal world", but I already put the stuff away....Show more →
Try your 100mm lens. Sounds like something is wrong with your setup. I'll try to get some examples posted in the next few days, but it should be tack sharp, unlike your first example.
