I am currently shooting with the R6 and mostly using the 28-70/2.8 lens. Sometimes I want something a bit smaller and more incognito to be able to take out with the family and friends.
Curious to hear people's thoughts on the Leica Q3, Hasselblad X2D or Fuji X100V? Would still like relatively quick auto focus and eye tracking for the kids and wife when they are moving around and not just posing, but was thinking something like the Q3 or X2D, X100V would be interesting options to try. Thoughts?
My bias is that Hasselblad and Leica are more costly for what you get than necessary. I have a lot of experience with Fujifilm, having adopted the x-trans platform for my “other system” (I also use a FF Canon system) for travel and street photography. Over the years I have owned or used two of the XE cameras (XE1 and XE3), the X100f (briefly), the XPro2 and XT5 (both extensively)… with a variety of Fujifilm lenses.
When I used the X100f (a predecessor to the current X100vi) I was very impressed with it in many ways, but I decided that it wasn’t for me, as I prefer to not be limited to just the 35mm focal length. (Or to use the add-on adapters.) If you are sure that a single 23mm (FF equivalent 35mm) fixed lens will do it for you, this could be a viable solution. Though you’ll have to pay — that camera is in very short supply right now.
There are other Fujifilm cameras that are just as good and which accommodate interchangeable lenses and, obviously, zooms like the one you use now. If you can find one of the tiny XE models (XE4 is ideal, though XE3 is good, too), they are very small but excellent. If you want a very small package put the tiny 27mm f/2.8 on it and it is smaller and lighter than the X100vi. Depending on what you are trying to do and your priorities, there are a few zoom lens options that could work, too.
I’m currently using the XT5, which is a really first rate camera, especially if you like The small size and manual controls.
As to the single, fixed-lens options, as a zoom user you really need to make sure that you’d be happy with that. It is possible, but it isn’t for everyone.
