Anyone have any idea if the electronic shutter will be a set 30 fps or variable speed with personal setting?

No one except for Canon knows and none of the click bait sites will know either until it's officially released. The rumored release date has been getting pushed back every month so we'll see what happens in a couple weeks. I think everyone is hoping for several options in between 1 and 30fps. I would be happy with options with an increment of 6...

6,12,18,24, and 30

Will let you know when Canon officially announces the camera.

Thought that part would have leaked out with some of the rest of the specs.

That is a pretty detailed spec that won't even be in the official announcement press release. That will only come from reviewers or release of the user manual. Not something you'd expect to leak out.

Adjustable. Going to be 5, 10, 15, 20, 30 fps on electronic from what I read. Nice feature.

Relatively slow, compared to the direct competitors with a 1/160s (6.3ms) scan speed. Sufficient for most bird subjects....basically the same as the original A9 from 2017....all be it with 2x the MPs.

I did not see this - do you have a reference. That would be great. [dpreview has it]

Dpreview says 5, 10, 15, 20, 30 fps on electronic. This is great. I was running 20fps on delkin black and getting ~80frames with 4s clear because I could not drop fps down to 12, which would have achieve >300 frames. Now I can set R5ii to 10 or 15, have less culling, and likely have a way faster clear and longer to fill. Combined with pre capture raw, this is a fantastic. At 15, I would get 7.5 frames before pressing button. [yet to be confirmed that 15 pre capture possible]

All the videos I've watched so far say pre-shooting is 15 frames.

Yes Scott it was on DP Review. Same info arbirtrage posted is on Digital Picture. I luv this feature. Especially for slow moving birds inflight and other applications. Was switching back and forth between electronic and manual shutter depending on subject.

Hopefully this is something we can customize to a button, to toggle between a few desired speeds. On the R5 I've been locked at 20 and I'll like to shoot 30 on the R5II, but not at all times.

Me too - I would use 15fps to reduce culling (and improve buffer performance) and bump with a button to 30fps. Hopefully that would reduce pre capture to 7.5 frames (15fps x 0.5s) as well.

There is a new YouTube video from ProAV TV that confirms this exact functionality. Burst speeds can be set to a button and activated as needed.
