I went to an art supply store with my lens and matched it to their pan color thingie and bought acrylic paint close in color. Used a small brush and filled in the scratch. Looked good unless I took a loupe to it.

A lot of automotive supply places (like O'Reilly Auto Parts specifically) can do a paint match with automotive paint, which tends to be much harder than traditional art or household paint. If a shop has such a service they can often do a custom mix and fill what they call a "pen" with the touch-up paint.

Some 15 or so years ago I recall someone mentioning that a specific paint formula for Ford was a near perfect match to the Canon "white." The new lenses are actually a bit lighter in color (at least mine are) but I still suspect would be a fairly easy match and would be more durable.

I use dings, dents and abrasions as marks of honor that I actually use my tools 😁. I don't usually throw out an electric drill unless it has at least 3 colors of paint or stain splattered on it.

I'm with @TJ Asher@ on this.

In addition, body shops may do this for you also especially if you already know someone there or if business is slow.

I took a peek at my Pantone guide and came up with "Cool Gray 4C" however it's hard to tell exactly with reflected light off my EF 100-400mm L IS II lens vs that of my guide. The actual color match may be in between it and one of its 2 adjacent colors on my particular vintage of Pantone guide.

I would think that a car parts store or body shop that has their own in-house modern paint mixing equipment would be able to get a better custom match to the the actual lens as it may be a custom Canon color.

Is the RF paint color different from the EF lens color?

When new, RF L lenses are more beige than the recent EF L lenses. However, older EF L lenses darken over time and take on a yellowish tint.

I only care when selling: clean them up, make the rubber parts black, buff out scratches on the hood and patch any wee chips.

I don't have any RF lenses to compare to however I suspect that RF white is the same as newer EF lenses like my EF 100-400mm L IS II and EF 1.4x / 2x version III extenders.

It's documented and well known that Canon changed the color of EF white lenses sometime after my EF 70-200mm L IS II. It and my older lenses/extenders appear to be are closest to Pantone "7527 C" in my guide.

All of my older EF lenses look the same regardless of age. I attribute this to me being careful in use/storage and that they are also not heavily used. I also suspect that older EF white is the same for FD lenses.

Years ago I picked up some touch-up paint for my FD 500 F/4.5L and later on, since I still had it, I touched up a couple of nicks on an EF 300mm f/4L where it matched both lenses. I don't remember where that touch-up paint came from.

I own a new RF 70-200 4L IS USM and recent (deal earlier this year) EF 100-400 4.5-5.6L IS USM II. Viewed side by side, the EF 100-400 4.5-5.6L IS USM II is slightly grayish in tint whereas the RF 70-200 4L IS USM is slightly warmer—a wee bit of beige. My decade old EF 70-300 4.0-5.6L IS USM—saw lots of tropical sun—has a slight yellowish tint. My 1994 EF 300 4L USM is even more yellowish but spent a lot of time on a tripod at the beach in Hawaiian sunshine.
