Not sure why I'm impressed considering i've used the Sigma 150-600mm C for a very long time and have loved the results out of it. But just took delivery of a Sigma 24mm f/1.4 Art that I ordered specifically for astrophotography, and I was playing with it and thought I'd photograph my fish. I was very surprised at how quick and how close it focused on my discus, and how good the image quality is for a shot wide open at f/1.4. I know we don't see many fish pictures on this forum but let's change that.

The description for this board says for any Canon compatible gear, so this lens should be fine to discuss here. Also, it was taken with a Canon R6 Mark II, so there's that.

Thoughts? Anyone else have this lens and can share tips and tricks? I already figured out how to focus to infinity consistently so that resolves the issue with MW pictures.

That's not bad at all, wide open. I've used the Sigma 35 1.4 & 50 1.4 in the past, and I was impressed with those. They were just to big for me. Post some astro pics when you can.

IDK man, something smells a little fishy here to me.

Great shot!
I'm looking forward to see some of your astro work with this lens. I've considered it many times for that purpose but just never pulled the trigger on it.

Going out tonight for astro photos. Should be the best sky we've had in months as far as visibility and darkness, with new moon having set by midnight and MW being out in full glory by then. So i'm very excited to see what happens tonight.

Went out last night as planned. Extreme humidity kept fogging up the lens. I think that caused some of the red and purple fringing in the images. Later on in the night once the lens had warmed up it went away. These are my three favorite pictures. It seems the lens' infinity focus mark (not the stop on the barrel but the actual line on the display) is accurate, as I set it and left it all night and it stayed focused. Very little coma, good stars in my opinion. Overall i'm very happy with the lens. I just need to find a better place to photograph with more interesting foreground elements.
