Well done, Rudy! You should be very proud of that film!
Out of curiosity - are you shooting at 4K 24 fps? What did you use for audio?
Thanks for your feedback, I really appreciate it.
I mostly shoot in two formats, one for regular speed and one for slow motion. The regular speed format is 4K 30p HQ which is downsampled from the full 8.2K sensor giving fabulous details, contrast and colours. The slow motion format is 4K 120p. The camera transforms this into quarter-speed 30fps footage which is why I shoot the other format in 30fps (they work well together)
When the subject is really far away I use the 4K 60fps in crop mode because it is not derived by pixel-binning or line-skipping but from being downsampled from a 5.2K area of the sensor. The quality is quite good and you can also do some slow motion with it, plus get audio in the recording which you don't get with the 4K 120p format.
For audio I try to keep life really simple. I use an el-cheapo Rode VideoMicro because it doesn't need it's own battery but is powered by the camera's battery (one less thing to worry about in the field). I mount the mic on the left side of a small T-bracket mounted in the hot shoe. This prevents the mic from picking up lens noises which my RF100-500 and my RF50/1.8 make a lot of. I also try not to shoot on windy days or in noisy locations (not always possible). For the narration I use a dynamic mic, the Samson Q2U, instead of a condenser mic which saves me from having to hang mats or egg crates, etc., from my office walls and ceiling to dampen echo.
Cheers
Rudy
