On A9iii release not sure we had any Type 4 cards

My only damn in this is I wish my A7CR could use Type A as well

Those cards get a lot warmer so probably a heat distribution issue, otherwise putting a double CFA/SD card slot in the a7CR would have made a lot of sense.

700 bucks for ONE card? I'd rather add some and buy another lens.

I have the Prograde 480GB V4 card and the Prograde V4 reader. I ordered directly from Prograde. I note that the price of the Prograde cards has dropped quite a bit from their pre-release price.

Aja reported over 1500 MB/s for both read and write when attached to a USB 4 port on a Mac Studio (the rear ports). Using the front ports (on a Max Mac Studio - on the Ultra Studio, the front ports are USB 4!), the reader slows down the V2 speeds. It also slows down to V2 speeds if you use an older USB-C cable (the Prograde cable is USB4 - I am going to try a few other cables out of curiosity).

I like that the Prograde reader uses type A socket, so there is no need for an adapter. The OWC reader might be better for someone who has a mix of type A and type B cards. I only have type A cards.

It reads my Sony V2 cards at V2 speeds (over 700MB/s), but measures as reading them significantly faster than the Sony reader! I haven't tried a Lexar V2 card yet.

I have used the Prograde card in an A9 III, and it works just fine. Amusingly, it reports the capacity remaining as 9999 images (it only supports 4 digits - I think it should be showing almost 14500). However, you can verify that it's 3x the size of the 160GB cards by looking at the video record capacity.

My local dealer has a sale on at the moment - I could get two Sony CFexpressA cards: a 160GB + a 80GB (240GB) for slightly more money than I spent buying the 480GB Prograde + the reader. So I'm getting twice the capacity, and that's before we factor in the V4 speed difference (even if it's only for downloading at the moment).

Now I really want V4 slots in my A9III, or, if I must, in whatever the next high speed Sony is going to be!
