A couple of years ago I was needing a lighter tripod for travelling and read good reviews about the Leofoto ones. I gave it a try and have been very pleased with the tripod. Last week I was in need of a ballhead and ordered their LH-40LR one and was not disappointed when I opened the box. It's a solid ballhead and comes with a nice case and tools. They seem to have 20% off on a regular basis and for me their quality is great for much less than some of the other ones out there. If you are looking for a tripod or ballhead I would check out their USA site.

I love their stuff. I have a couple monopods and heads from them. Identical quality to RRS, Kirk, etc. (the items I have seen in person anyway, which are several tripods/monopods/heads) without the ridiculous profit margins. It's an especially good option for Canadians because the shipping costs from the USA companies are egregious on those particular items.

I like Wimberley a lot too and they have Canadian distributors.

Leofoto tripods are solid... but only after you trim the leg stops to correct for the ridiculously small leg opening angle.

As to whether the RRS margins are ridiculous - would not be surprised if net margins are on par with Leofoto, who draw "inspiration" from RRS with no hesitation.

considering where each of them are manufactured. we all here in the US and Canada would not do too well at their pay scale.

I like the people at Leofoto. That's why I use their gear. The US distributors and the folks at the factory are great to deal with. They listen to feedback and make improvements where appropriate. That is the polar opposite of my experience with RSS.

Love my Leofoto LN-364C. I use a gimbal head for long lenses, a column with a geared head for general purpose & macro, and just bought another Flat Top Plate Adapter TP-75 for an old Acratech ball head.

I really enjoy both my LS-323 and my LS-284. I also have the MT-04 tabletop tripod, and it's fantastic.

I have a Leofoto monopod that I like a lot, and a levelling base that I like somewhat less.

While their equipment is well-made, I am not a fan of blatant copying of other companies’ designs.
