Looking for some suggestion on how people store and share images. I currently do all my edits in LR and files are saved on local and external drive. The output jpeg files are saved on UNraid server, where I use Plex to share them with family to view. I am looking for a better solution specially with RAW files that I've accumulated throughout the years. Right now my server only has the files that I have edited and exported in last couple of years so all the jpegs/RAWs that I've taken in last 10 years are just indexed in LR catalog and on different folders.

Currently my folder structure is below
- Year
-- Event
or
- Kids Name
-- Year
or
- Hunts
--- Year
------- Event

Is there a better way of doing that?

Better is relative I'm sure. I've read lots about organizing files and seen some that are totally unintuitive, and others that are great but seem to take forever to setup.

My method is pretty messy, but works for me. I throw all of my raw images into folders that are named based on the camera body used, and then more folders divided up by date and subject or event.

Then when I edit and export from DXO, all of the edited images go into a separate folder which I admittedly don't have organized very well currently.

I keep all of my files on external hard drives only, and back them up quarterly. 1 copy in my house, 1 copy in my bank safe, 1 in my parent's house. I don't use any cloud storage.
