An aurora celestial burst photographed in NV Wyoming on Friday night around 12:45am just east of Yellowstone. Actually looking slightly south and went super wide at 11mm

Wow! I lived 13 years in Alaska, saw a LOT of Northern Lights - but nothing like that! That is spellbinding!!!

Did some further research on this type of display and its quite rare and much sought. It's called a corona. They only occur in very strong events... I'm was very fortunate to capture this...

It's like we are staring straight up into it! The composition is great!

What processing did you do? I am seeing a waxy-like artifacting in some of the structure, and the central core is very sharp rather than smooth.

Kyle this was PS and topaz photo AI, quick and dirty definitely need to work that image some more. What was happening was the lights were moving rapidly, shimmering and something I can most accurately describe as pulsating. It was and amazing event. Even my SS of 2 seconds was to long to freeze what I was seeing but the core/center of the corona was more stable than the burst..... Here's another image from the sequence

I figured Topaz AI was applied. I have had little success with Topaz on night shots, other than denoise on occasion.
I like this version better. I recommend sharpening only the foreground in astro shots if Topaz AI is used, as it usually makes up details and gives it the crunch I mentioned in the previous post. Wavelet sharpening, deconvolution, and multiscale transformation are better at sharpening astro.

Amazing capture. Not commonly seen northern light colors.
