Hi folks, I did use the search function but no hits to what I found. So, is there a cream you folks can advice that can be applied to the face when exposed to the extreme cold in order to avoid (lite) frostbite?

Thank you for the input already!

Never heard of an anti-frostbite cream. A skin cream isn’t going to insulate your skin against cold temperatures. A good quality, thick head/face mask made of polar fleece or similar is the solution I would use.

O, it is indeed all about protection by covering up but there are creams out there that really help in preventing frostbite (to an extend) like this one:

Dermatone Skin Protector | All Weather Skin Balm | Sun, Wind, Cold, Chapping & Frostbite Protection | Face and Lip Balm SPF23 | Barrier Cream | 0.5oz https://a.co/d/h3xC2yj

But I suggest at minimum a high quality balaclava. Better yet a tunnel hood with a fur ruff. You can get one for not much money at an army surplus store and have it around for only when you need it. You will look like a dufas but at -40 there will not be that many people to see you.

And if you are really into the exotic look and wat to scare the shit out of anyone who sees you, try this

As someone who is regularly in -25C to -35C, and much colder with windchill, nothing is going to prevent frostbite except dressing appropriately and properly covering up your skin.

There are creams that under certain circumstances can mitigate cellular damage from the effects frostbite, but not to a degree that is practical or worth bothering with, in my opinion anyway. Just cover up either with a full face balaclava/ski mask or wrap of some kind

Aquaphor or Vaseline: These occlusive products are great for preventing moisture loss in cold temperatures. They are simple but effective in creating a protective layer on the skin.
Weleda Skin Food: This rich protective cream is made from natural ingredients such as lanolin and beeswax, which act as a barrier against the cold while nourishing the skin. Also, there's also a cream https://okdermo.com/product/eflora-hair-removal-vaniqa-cream-15g/ for facial hair removal that can work really well too.

Good luck with that. the key is proper insulation to reduce heat loss.

The Baffin Fog-Off Mask has kept my rosy cheeks and nose warm, in wind chill temps down to at least -45C (-49F).

Dermatone, but as others have said that's just a stopgap measure. It will delay frostbite but won't prevent it.
